BAKARI (SUMMER PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAM) 2017 June 26-August 4 (6 weeks)

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:

Mondays: morning workouts, Magic class, sekere (African beaded-gourd hand drum) and Capoeira-Angola martial arts.

Tuesdays: carpentry, academics, Magic class (w/ Professional magician Chuck) and organic gardening (week 1 we will be tilling, pulling weeds and planting garlic, tomatoes, potatoes, onions, lettuce, carrots, watermelon, corn, sunflowers and a few other crops).

Wednesday: TRIP day.

Thursdays: Boot camp, guitar/music reading class, arts & craft, sekere (African beaded-gourd hand drum) and academics.

Fridays: tennis, dance class, drum class, academics.

*We are excited to have Baba Chuck, a Professional magician teaching the science of magic, Baba Foluso Mimy teaching West African drumming, Iya Makeda Kemit teaching West African dance class, Baba Baye Kemit teaching Capoeira-Angola martial arts, Iya Omomola teaching sekere, Iya Makeda doing Boot camp and physical workouts, respectively, in addition to academic instruction, tennis lessons, arts and craft, basic woodshop and much more!!!!!!!!!!!!!

COST: $870 (7 weeks) (*Must attend at least 4 weeks)

TIME: 9:00 am-3:30 pm (Monday-Friday)

AGES: 4-12
