Directed by Makeda Kemit, with musical direction by Foluso Mimy, this West African tale - full of dance and drum - follows King Ṣàngó on his quest to seek new land, and the unexpected challenge that his village must solve.
Egun Omode (children of the ancestors) is Trenton, NJ’s own West African dance/drum, Yoruba folklore performing arts company. The group extends from The Garvey School/Egun Omode Shule, an African-centered independent school in Trenton. As African-centered educators, musicians and life-long students of African history, Egun Omode brings the authenticity and excitement of West African culture and tradition to the stage.
